Our Patron
Professor Dr. Juliane Kokott S.J.D. has agreed to be the patron for our confer ence. Since 2003, she is an Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the European Communities. From 2000 until her call to the ECJ, she headed the Institute for European Law, Public International Law and international business law at the renowned University of St. Gallen (Switzerland).
Introductory Lecture
The introductory lecture will be conducted by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Wichard Woyke. He is from the Department of Political Science of Münster University where his key activities include research regarding the integration process within the EU.
Main Lecture
PhD Osvaldo Saldías, Lawyer and Political Scientist, will hold the Main Lecture on the EU from an outside perspective. Mr. Saldías was born in Switzerland. His parents come from Chile, where he studied and worked for several years. He now lives in Berlin.
Panel Discussion
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Reinhard Meyers will preside over the discussion. He is from the Department of Political Science of Münster University. His key activities include European politics.
His Excellency Dr. Lazăr Comănescu, Ambassador and former Foreign Minister of Rumania will participate in the discussion, as well as Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael O'Neill (Trent University of Nottingham) Joachim Weidemann, founder and editor of EurActiv.de and Detlev Boeing who will also conduct workshop 2.
Workshop 1
The Workshop on the European Economic Area will be conducted by Dr. Rahel Schomaker, associate lecturer of Münster University and scientific assistent at the German Academy of Administrative Science. Her work focuses on European Integration and European business relations.
Workshop 2
Detlev Boeing and Camelia Ratiu will conduct the workshop on the EU enlargement. Mr. Boeing is part of the Directorate General of the European Commission (Enlargement Strategy Unit), Camelia Ratiu is research assistant at Münster University.
Workshop 3
The Workshop on the democratic deficits of the EU will be conducted by Dr. Matthias Freise, academic councillor at the department of Political Science of Münster University.
